College numbers that are impressive don't always mean a productive Madden 23 coins player. However, McCaffrey's strengths translate well into an elite backfield, and his innate versatility is a plus.
Explosiveness
At the Madden NFL 23 Combine, through drills that assessed speed and agility, McCaffrey blew away the other players, including the other top running backs of the class.
The time of his 40-yard sprint (4.48 seconds) just barely beat the times set by LSU's Leonard Fournette (4.51) and Florida State's Dalvin Cook (4.49). However, it was McCaffrey's 37.5-inch vertical leap and his legendary 6.57 seconds during the three-cone exercise that marked him out.
What McCaffrey does well is to locate gaps, place his feet into the ground and then accelerate through the gaps until daylight. His scores at the combine confirm that ability to change direction and speed, as does his impressive highlight reel from Stanford:
It's a talent set that is well-suited to any backfield but has also made him a useful weapon as a pass catcher or returner with the Cardinal. There have been numerous players who played multiple positions throughout their college careers before they were forced to conform to only one position within the Madden NFL 23.
Swiss Army knife
In 2013 Myles Jack won the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman The Year and Pac-12 Defensive Freshman Of The award. Prior to that, Eric Weddle did everything for Utah and even played 90 minutes in a game, where he scored the only two touchdowns. He was also the player who scored the game-winning field goal.
Christian McCaffrey Scouting Report
"Could we see the best variant of Ty Montgomery with a higher ceiling? The flexibility of a running back in between the tackles equipped with broad receiver speed, as well as route running ability is a big plus for any offense. The model established through LaDainian Tomlinson, and Jamaal Charles prior to that was developed by Bell which has given players like Dion Lewis and McCaffrey the straightforward path to success." -- Read More at Rule of Tree
In the event that both Jack and Weddle were relegated to single defensive positions in the Madden NFL 23 McCaffrey's versatility could not be wasted. McCaffrey was quoted by reporters at the beginning of March Madden NFL 23 teams told them they'd like to use his many talents to good use.
"It's basically the same stuff I've been doing at Stanford," McCaffrey said at the Madden NFL 23 Combine. "Something I'm really proud on is that I'm not just an offensive back that can play the ball. But if I go to the slot, I become a receiver. If I move out towards X or Z, I'm now an actual receiver, not the running back. I am determined to pride myself on route running as well as catching and being adept at causing mismatches in any field."
And McCaffrey already plans on being one of the most-used players in the Madden NFL 23.
"I absolutely believe that I can be an all-down back as well as specialist, and cheap madden 23 coins do simultaneously."
