As the demand for sustainable and off grid energy solutions continues to grow, many Canadians are turning to solar power and solar inverter and battery systems as a reliable and eco-friendly alternative. As well, they are seeking simple, plug and play solutions that are affordable and long lasting and maximize the efficiency of a solar power system. Here we explain the details and benefits of the EcoFlow Power Kit.
What are EcoFlow Power Kits?
EcoFlow Power Kits are off-grid solar systems that can keep you powered in your home, cottage, motorhome, shed, or anywhere you don’t have access to the grid. What makes them unique is that EcoFlow Power Kits are simple to install and operate and are compact when compared to other systems on the market.
What bundle choices are there?
The EcoFlow Power Kits come in 3 different kit offerings. The Get Set Kit, the Prepared Kit, and the Independence Kit. The Get Set Kit is the most basic kit providing either 2kW or 5kW batteries of your choice and the Power Hub. The Prepared Kit and Independence Kit expand upon the Get Set Kit by adding incremental options for connecting to circuits on your panel and system monitoring of both solar input and power output. All Power Kit options allow you to select your battery capacity by offering 2kWh, 4kWh, 5kWh, 10kWh, and 15kWh options for each Kit.
Solar panels are purchased separately for the EcoFlow Power Kit as customers will have different needs for solar panels based on how their building is situated to sunlight, budget and other factors.
Power Kit Lithium Iron Phosphate, 48V and Self Heating Batteries
EcoFlow Power Kit LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) Batteries are designed to last for extended use in your off-grid building, van or RV and will last up to 4x longer than Sealed Lead Acid batteries and are more than half of the weight. The Power Kit batteries are 48V batteries that are designed to last between 3000 and 5000 cycles (each cycle is a full charge and discharge) to 80% capacity. The Power Kit batteries have a feature called Self Heating which enables the batteries to warm themselves so that they can operating efficiently and also accept solar charge in sub-zero temperatures.
What’s the maximum Solar Charging input for EcoFlow Power Kits?
You can charge your Ecoflow Power Kit system with a max input of 4800 Watts of Solar Panels. If your Power Kit is set up in a Mobile application such as RV or Van, you can also set up for charging from your vehicle alternator up to 1000 Watts and the EcoFlow Smart Generator up to 1800 Watts.
In terms of Power Kit solar charging speed, this really depends on the
battery configuration you have selected (Eg. 2kW, 4kW, 5kW, 10kW or 15kW) and how much solar input you generate. Let’s take the largest setup as an example. With three 5kWh batteries (15kWh total), and you generate a maximum of 6000W input, you’ll charge to full in 2.5hrs. The calculation is 15,000Wh/6000W to reach 2.5hrs.
In reality, your input will vary due to different solar conditions, time of year, time of day and how the sun hits your solar panels. You can calculate your total capacity, then divide it by your estimated input to get a rough idea of charge times.
The EcoFlow Power Kits do support third-party solar panels.
Each solar input port on the Power Hub only supports up to 150V, 30A panels. So double check your panels to ensure they are compatible. TRU Off Grid will help you with this choice and we do supply a variety of high quality solar panels in 200 Watt, 400 Watt and 500 Watt configurations.
All EcoFlow Power Kits are compatible with the EcoFlow Smart Home Panel.
You can use the EcoFlow Smart Home Panel to increase supported capacity to a massive 30kWh, and increase solar input to 9.6kW. Ideal for larger off-grid setups where you’ll need days of renewable energy.
In Summary, EcoFlow Power Kits are the world's first compact modular power solutions for tiny homes and RVs and are proudly supply by TRU Off Grid in Milton, Ontario. With a plug-and-play design, customizing your energy is quicker and easier than ever.
