In a brand new event that will run from now until the 3rd of OSRS gold  January 2022 players will be able to get their hands on a brand new version of the classic "Partyhat" which is a item originally offered during a Christmas celebration way back in 2001. It was initially available in red blue, green, yellow as well as white, purple or red in RuneScape's "The Golden Party Hat Hunt" quest will enable players to obtain one of the most sought-after cosmetics that have a metallic sheen.

Because the party hats were only available during a short time period, but have since been removed the lucky player to have one could sell them for billions of in-game coins. Even though the hats ' purpose is purely decorative and offer no bonus stats, they are currently the most expensive item on the Grand Exchange, hitting the highest price of 2.1billion gold in 2015.

To obtain or heads inside the Golden Party Hat, players must complete "various goals" and earn eight golden shards in exchange for their efforts. After the eight shards are obtained, they can be added to a Golden Party Hat.

However it's not just the game time-bound, only one golden hat will be able to be crafted per player. Just like their predecessors from 2001 Jagex affirms about the golden caps that "after the cut-off date they will not be accessible for earning again!"

It is unclear if the new item will disrupt the in-game economy and lowers the value of party hats or transforms into a brand new even more expensive item remains to be seen. Jagex will be marking the occasion all the same but will be transforming the game's Grand Exchange location into "a Golden Party Hat winter wonderland".

The golden hat marks the final part (sorry) to the RuneScape's annual 20th-anniversary celebrations. The event will be launched alongside the return of the partyhat event is the fourth and final phase of the anniversary adventure, Once Upon a Time, that runs throughout the throughout the year.
