While he took inspiration from other MMOs The structure that was the basis of RuneScape was one he studied closely, making an entire world created by Melvor Idle into a parallel universe with the 20 years old RPG. "RuneScape Gold was an essential touchstone for the game because it was such a foundational game for me," He explains."
Much like many I was one of them. I started playing RuneScape because a lot of my acquaintances at the time used to play it. Its being web-based is a large part of this. Its low barrier to entry combined with RuneScape's deep branching and complexity was what made me want to return to the game for quite a long time and that's something I wanted to recreate with Melvor Idle."
With Malcolm very open about his inspiration it was soon reported to Jagex that a fan was building a game based on their own MMO. One of the staff members flagged it to management, and the director of management of products Chris Pfeiffer telling us his team was impressed by "how much was achieved and how well it was in line closely with RuneScape."
"The strategy for Melvor Idle is in tune with our primary values of what makes a living game -- this was therefore a natural fit for us," He says. "Furthermore the idea of offering someone in our community this opportunity is a great motivator for everyone in the business."
Pfieffer and his team members The group of Pfieffer and colleagues have tried Melvor Idle for themselves and found it enjoyable enough to reach out to Malcolm in hopes of discussing the idea of working together in early 2021.
"From just our first conversations we discovered that Brendan has a similar vision to Jagex's of game that is based on community, and has done an outstanding job in creating a vibrant and vibrant community within Melvor Idle. It's very rare to find such a natural fit when you're looking for publishing opportunities, but Brendan as well as Melvor Idle were precisely that, and we decided to support both him and the game with all our heart.
He says: "We like to say that the case is that if RuneScape can be described as the MMO that is enjoyable while watching TV, Melvor is the idle game that you can play during RuneScape. Melvor Idle incorporates the RuneScape's basic gameplay mechanics and condenses them into bite-sized segments which can be enjoyed in the midst of a tight schedule This means that RuneScape game players can feel right at familiar in Melvor.
The games will be based on stories, characters and locales from across RuneScape's rich 21-year-long history playing on a board comprising between one and five players on quest-based campaigns through Gielinor.
They'll make and upgrade equipment, upgrade their characters, cook special recipes, engage to NPCs in a quest to prove their abilities in various areas of the globe, and with numerous exciting side quests that distract and entertain them on their route.
The TTRPG will comprise a gorgeously illustrated, hardback rulebook that will contain the rules for players who wish to play the Cheap OSRS Gold tabletop roleplaying games, with the possibility of creating their own characters, explore Gielinor and design new and thrilling adventures.
