World of Warcraft is an older game, and thanks to an upcoming feature in Patch 10.1.5, players will be able to give their old characters a glow-up in case they decide to play them again. A contrast to the unified job system in Final Fantasy 14, the classes in World of Warcraft (and leveling in general) are designed around having alt characters. There is no manual server hopping, and each hero is restricted by the limitations of their class or race. Though players can pay for a token to change their race, their class is set in stone.

Given the mercurial balance cycle of many World of Warcraft classes over the course of an expansion, it's practically expected that players will want to try out what the other specs can provide. Maybe a Fire Mage becomes too tedious to play, and suddenly that Fury Warrior starts to look really good – this is where the ease of leveling a new character truly comes to shine. However, a few expansions down the line and players may find their Fire Mage sitting on the selection screen, collecting dust. They could wonder about starting up the character once again, but would be deterred by needing to sort out their equipment, bags, and quest log, before being allowed to properly move on.

This is where the new Gear Update feature comes to rescue the day, as World of Warcraft players will be able to give their old alts a true makeover. Marketed as a free "Welcome Back Gift," old characters can have their gear updated, quest log cleared, and teleported to the main city of their faction in a brand-new set of inventory bags. Discovered by Wowhead on the Public Test Realm build, it represents another in a long list of quality-of-life features being added in Patch 10.1.5.

Patch 10.1.5 is also bringing back a missing feature to World of Warcraft, as players will soon be able to rearrange their character list as it appears on the selection screen. It's fair to say that the community's trust in the development team has slowly been rebuilt, as Blizzard keeps winning back its favor with the fans by acquiescing to some of the biggest demands they had in the past few years.

Cross-faction guilds in World of Warcraft, Dragonriding beyond the Dragon Isles, more customization options, new race and class combos, and a third Evoker spec – requests that were considered a pipe dream in previous expansions have become reality in Dragonflight. Though the latter half of Dragonflight has yet to unfold, and Blizzard still needs to stick the landing, the overall direction of Dragonflight has been the breath of fresh air the game sorely needed.
