EA’s Madden NFL game will move into its second official installment for next-generation consoles with the release of Madden NFL 22 in the coming months. Fans will be winding down their Ultimate Team roster building and looking ahead to what’s next. They’re also hoping for much-needed improvements to gameplay and Franchise mode. Ahead of the new game, we look at the potential Madden NFL 22 release date as well as VGR’s latest cover star predictions.

Madden 22 release dateDue to PS5 and Xbox Series X emerging in the build-up to Christmas, the next-gen releases of Madden 21 fell out of sync with their PS4 and Xbox One counterparts. That will surely change this year. Traditionally a new Madden emerges in the first week of August, just ahead of the real NFL season getting underway. That street date was delayed until 28 August last year, likely due to the complications of developing during a pandemic, but we expect the Madden 22 release date to return to its conventions. That would mean the game going on sale on Friday 6 August, with early access granted to those who pre-ordered on or around Tuesday 3 August.

Madden 22 Cover Athlete

EA doesn’t announce the cover star until more information is released but there’s a good chance that American football legend Tom Brady will be the Madden 22 cover athlete after getting his seventh super bowl ring.

It’s an impressive feat and one that EA would be foolish not to capitalize on unless they have plans to spotlight a younger athlete. But with years running out for the GOAT, they would be mad to pass up this opportunity.

MADDEN 22 TRAILERS

While no trailers have been shown publicly just yet, EA has a scheduled earnings call with investors in May. Historically, EA has paired its investor meetings with marketing campaigns, choosing to inform both its financial backers and customers almost in unison. While many expect the next Battlefield to be revealed in May at that earnings call, it's possible that's when EA will start talking publicly about Madden 22 as well. As soon as it does, we'll be sure to include any trailers right here.

If EA doesn't open up about Madden 22 there, it's a surefire bet to be shown at EA Play Live or a similar E3-adjacent showcase later this summer. The marketing windows have shrunken over the years for Madden, perhaps because the game essentially sells itself and EA wants to encourage players to spend in-game money on Madden 21 for as long as possible, so it wouldn't be unprecedented if the publisher remains tight-lipped until just eight or nine weeks before it launches.

Franchise Mode

The main look into Madden 22 EA have given players is updates coming for Franchise Mode.

That's the latest news of Madden 22 we've know yet, plus other key additions that we’ll reveal as we get deeper into the year for Madden NFL 22 development season. we hope EA Sports will bring more surprises to us in Madden NFL 22.
